Dr Kirsti Hornigold

 

Graduate Studies Programme Manager

 

Kirsti Hornigold leads the Graduate Studies Programme at the Babraham Institute and is responsible for the operational management, strategic development, and continuous enhancement of the Institute's PhD programmes.

 

Working closely with the Director of Graduate Studies, Human Resources, funding bodies, and a wide range of external stakeholders, Kirsti oversees the end-to-end delivery of the Graduate Studies Programme. Her role focuses on ensuring that all PhD students receive a high-quality, well-supported research training experience that aligns with institutional goals, funder requirements, and the highest standards of academic excellence.

 

Kirsti joined the Babraham Institute from the MRC Toxicology Unit in Cambridge, where she led the Integrative Toxicology Training Partnership PhD Programme, co-chaired the Unit's Postgraduate Education Committee, and directed its knowledge exchange strategy, including industrial liaison and partnership activities.

 

Prior to this, Kirsti worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the Babraham Institute, a Senior Postdoctoral Scientist at Babraham Bioscience Technologies, and held both a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship and a Lectureship in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham.

Kirsti holds a PhD in Cell Signalling from the Babraham Institute and both an MRes in Physiology and Pharmacology, and a BSc in Biological Sciences from the University of Leicester.
