Gaining hands-on experience through industry immersion and collaborative projects with early-stage bioscience companies and research parks.
The BioSCaPe programme emphasises innovation, collaboration, excellence and inclusivity. Whether you dream of founding a biotech start-up, leading a research team, or driving innovation in industry, BioSCaPe will give you the tools, training, and community to make it happen.
Unique academic–industry collaboration
Our students will operate at the intersection of fundamental science and commercial innovation. Gain hands-on experience through industry immersion and collaborative projects with early-stage bioscience companies and research parks.
World-class research environment
Together with our globally renowned institutions - the Babraham Institute, Wellcome Sanger Institute, MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, and the University of Cambridge - the wider south-Cambridgeshire environment gives access to support from five research parks; Babraham Research Campus, Chesterford Research Park, Granta Park, Unity Campus and Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
Comprehensive training for future leaders
From day one, you’ll be supported to grow as a leader. With access to bespoke programmes such as training at the Cambridge Judge Business School and Accelerate@Babraham at the Babraham Research Campus, you’ll develop the entrepreneurial mindset and strategic thinking needed to lead in a fast-evolving sector. Students will also be able to undertake industry based placements and explore internships in other sectors.
Supportive community
Every student is supported by a dedicated supervisory team, including academic and industry mentors, pastoral advisors, and a Training & Inclusive Support Manager. Supervisors receive EDI and inclusive supervision training. Annual symposium events will allow students to share ideas, receive peer feedback and grow their networks.
The Babraham Institute is a life science research institute dedicated to making the fundamental discoveries needed to maintain health and improve wellbeing throughout life.
The Wellcome Sanger Institute applies and explores genomic technologies at scale to advance understanding of biology and improve health.
The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is dedicated to the understanding of important biological processes at the levels of atoms, molecules, cells and organisms.
The School of the Biological Sciences is home to animal, human, plant and microbial science at the University of Cambridge.
Each student will be hosted at one of four academic institutes: the Babraham Institute, Wellcome Sanger Institute, the University of Cambridge and the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology.
