Antonia earned her MSc in Biochemistry from the Julius-Maximilians-Universität in Würzburg. She then completed her PhD in the laboratory of Karsten Hiller at the Technische Universität Braunschweig, where she investigated metabolic changes in pro-inflammatory macrophages, with a particular focus on mitochondrial function.

In 2025, she joined the Trefely lab as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where her work centres on the acute metabolic and epigenetic effects of nutrient intake and short-chain fatty acids in hepatocytes.
