Our popular Babraham Institute Sixth-Form Conference (BISFC) will return on Thursday 1st December 2022, 6-9pm.
At BISFC, students will hear a series of lightning talks on our cutting-edge fundamental biology research, as well as finding out more about a variety of careers in bioscience. Participants can also get creative by submitting a scientific poster or piece of artwork to our design competition, with the top entries being invited to present their creation at the conference. This is a brilliant opportunity for students to demonstrate their independent research or design skills, and to experience a taste of a real-life academic conference.
The theme of BISFC 2022 is Healthy Ageing. This is a key focus of much of our cutting-edge research at the Babraham Institute. Read more about our Healthy Ageing research here.
Students can get involved with BISFC 2022 by submitting a scientific poster or piece of artwork.
Submissions for both posters and art pieces will open at 09:00 on Monday 5th September and close at 23:59 on Sunday 30th October. Submissions should be sent to PE@babraham.ac.uk. Posters should be sent as PDF files, and artwork should be sent as photographs or scanned image files (e.g. PNG, JPG). A range of art types may be submitted: paintings, photographs, digital images, sculptures (photographed), etc. We are unable to accept video formats.
A judging panel of BI staff will assess entrants on the following criteria.
Shortlisted entrants to both the poster and art competitions will have their pieces on display at BISFC 2022, where we will announce the overall winners and award prizes. We will also be creating a digital booklet containing all submitted pieces.
We have produced a Padlet board to provide guidance and inspiration for the competition.
Further details about the Conference and associated design competition will be announced in September when Conference registration and competition entries open.
