Nursery Cook (Part Time - 20.5 hours)
Babraham Nursery was opened in September 1990 and operates from a large house situated in a quiet corner of a residential area in the grounds of the Institute. It has a large enclosed garden with climbing frame, pathways and grassed areas. It accommodates up to a total of ninety children on the Early Years register aged from 6 weeks to 5 years throughout the year and operates a separate holiday club for school aged children during the holidays at the local school.
There is a large team of Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants who care for the children as well as staff who provide the meals and administrative support. A Senior Nursery Nurse leads each of the four base rooms supported by the Deputy Managers and Manager. We also have two cleaners who carry out regular daily cleaning. The Nursery is open all year round except for Bank Holidays and a one-week closure during the Christmas period.
A post has arisen for a part-time, job share Nursery Cook/Caterer post to join the Babraham Nursery. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with the other cook to provide meals for all of the children within nursery, jointly line manage the kitchen assistant and support the management team. The successful applicant will be expected to work 20.5 hours per week, over two full days working 8.30am-5pm Mondays and Tuesdays and one half day working 8:30-2:00. As this is a job share post, the post holder will be required to cover the other cook’s planned absences. The full time hours for the post is 37 hours per week.
The Nursery is open all year round except for Bank Holidays and a one-week closure during the Christmas period.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB Disclosure) is required.
Starting salary is £12,869 per annum (£12.07 p/h - £23,228 FTE)
