David Kipling

Joined the Board in August 2012.

David Kipling originally trained as a Zoologist.  After completing a DPhil in the Zoology Department at The University of Oxford he moved to the MRC Human Genetics Unit in Edinburgh as a Post-Doctoral Researcher.  In 1997 he took up a permanent academic position in the School of Medicine at Cardiff University and was promoted to a personal Chair some five years later.  David’s research group studies the fundamental processes underpinning human ageing, with a particular interest in telomeres and replicative senescence.  He was the academic coordinator of two BBSRC funding initiatives on the biology of ageing. David is Chair of the Science and Impact Advisory Committee

David is a Trustee of the British Society for Research on Ageing, the first scientific body to be concerned specifically with gerontology as a scientific discipline.
