Ciaran HillCiaran graduated first in his year from Barts and the Royal London medical school in 2007. After completing an MSc in Clincal Neuroscience with distinction at UCL he trained in Neurosurgery in North London. He holds the post of Honorary Senior Lecturer in Clinical Neuroscience at UCL and works as a pre-hospital doctor for London Air Ambulance.
He is currently a postdoc supervised by Dr Michael Coleman and Professor David Menon from the Brain Repair Centre in Cambridge. Ciaran is undertaking a Wellcome Trust funded PhD looking into the molecular mechanisms of traumatic axonal injury and their links to neurodegeneration. It is hoped this will open new avenues to help treat this common condition. Outside of work Ciaran enjoys high-altitude mountaineering and despite no natural ability he refuses to give up trying to learn Persian.
