dSTORM Super-resolution Imaging of Cellular Protein Distributions and Nanoscale Structures

Super-resolution imaging is having an exceptional impact in the biomedical sciences as it combines the high specificity and contrast of fluorescent methods with near-molecular resolution. My laboratory has been using dSTORM-like super-resolution methods since 2008 and I will give an overview of some practical aspects of using this technology for biomedical and biophysical investigations. These considerations will be illustrated with applications from our work on the biophysics of cardiac calcium signaling.
