New mechanistic insight into de-regulated endo-lysosomal cargo sorting in human disease

Our laboratory seeks to thoroughly define the fundamental mechanistic details of how the endo-lysosomal network serves to sort hundreds of transmembrane receptors, channels and transporters to a variety of cellular organelles and how this impacts of cell, tissue and organism-level physiology. By revealing the essential role of endosomal sorting in cellular homeostasis and establishing how perturbed cargo sorting leads to disease, including Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, our research is changing our perception of this highly complex cellular process.
