Athena SWAN - My Life in Science Seminar

Natasha Karp  is a scientist with an unusual career path, with many twists and turns.  She has worked as a school teacher,  a bench scientist, a laboratory manager,  and for the last 13 years as a biostatistician.  These roles have been within both commercial and academic settings.  Family and  ill-health have impacted the career path and for the last ten years Natasha has worked part-time.  The academic success has led to 46 manuscripts of which 19 were first or senior author.  Natasha has just moved to AstraZeneca, but prior to this she spent eight years at the  Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute focused on addressing reliability and reproducibility issues within in-vivostudies.

Natasha's talk will focus on two areas:

  •          Her research into the prevalence of sexual dimorphism within in-vivo studies
  •          Her career choices and finding a path that works for you
