Making your Mark H

Making your Mark: Exploring Epigenetics at Big Biology Day

With Epigenetics appearing in both the GCSE and A-Level Curriculum there’s never a better time to learn more about how epigenetic marks – small chemical modifications on the DNA – do not alter the sequence, but affect how it is interpreted.

Scientists from the Babraham Institute's Epigenetics programme will be at Big Biology Day at Hills Road Sixth Form College, Cambridge on Saturday 14th October 2017 to discuss their research and explain ChIP-Seq – one of the key tools used to analyse DNA to discover the role that epigenetic marks might be playing in controlling genes.

Visitors to the exhibit will be able to try their hand at our ChIP-Seq activity, which illustrates the principles of this powerful technique.

‘Making your Mark: Exploring Epigenetics’ is one of many exhibits at Big Biology Day, which takes place at Hills Road Sixth Form College from 10.00 until 4.00 on Saturday 14th October. The event is free and open to the public. Further information can be found at  facebook.com/bigbiologyday
