Public Engagement (ORION) Project Officer

Public Engagement and Science Communications Team

We are seeking a dynamic Public Engagement Officer to implement a new EC Horizon 2020 Science with and for Society grant, ORION: Open Responsible Research and Innovation to further Outstanding kNowledge, at the Babraham Institute.

This exciting project will focus on exploring and embedding Responsible Research and Innovation principles (ethics, gender, governance, open access, public engagement and science education). The project will take engagement of the public beyond the ‘traditional’ mechanisms, involving them throughout the entire research pipeline, from funding calls to policy development.

The Project Officer will be responsible for assessment of current Institute RRI practices, organisation of workshops, development of ‘co-creation’ experiments including public dialogue and citizen science projects, training and liaison with our European partners.

The successful applicant will have a degree in a biological or life sciences subject, considerable experience of public engagement and the ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including researchers, funders, public groups and policy-makers.

Funding for this position is available until 30 April 2021.

Starting salary is £30,751 per annum to £34,166 per annum depending on experience.

This position is a full-time position, but part-time hours (minimum of 80%) will be considered.
