Life Sciences Research for Lifelong Health

Postdoctoral Research Scientist/Senior Research Assistant in Biological Chemistry

Biological Chemistry

A research position is available for candidates interested in studying the changes which occur in connective tissue as we age.  Although this might appear to be an area well studied in the past, we believe that there is actually a lack of clarity as to what the most important factors are which lead to the tissues in healthy people to age. Through the use of stable isotope labelling and modern analytical techniques, composition and chemical changes key to the ageing of connective tissue will be identified, and the importance of these processes studied.
The ideal candidate will have a good knowledge of, and experience in, biochemistry and chemistry. The position would suit candidates who have previously studied biological chemistry or chemistry with biochemistry as their first degree. The position might be suitable for those returning to research after a career break.
The successful candidate will either have a PhD in a biochemical or organic chemistry subject, or have a number of years working in a biological field of research.
This position is funded by a grant from the SENS Research Foundation and is available for one year.
