Bioinformatics Group
The Bioinformatics Group provides a central resource of expertise in computational biology and statistics, available to all researchers in the Institute. The Group has experience in a wide variety of existing software packages for bioinformatics, and also have the ability to write custom programs for specific purposes, if nothing suitable currently exists.
The Group is centrally located and operates on an 'open-door' basis and also provides in-house training courses such as 'Exploring the Ensembl genome databases' and 'A quick introduction to the Staden package'. The Group maintains a suite of bioinformatics desktop packages for PC and Mac users. A central Linux facility provides both a general and Bioinformatics application service.
