How to find us

The Babraham Research Campus, encompassing the Babraham Institute, Babraham Bioscience Technologies Ltd (BBT) and the resident companies of the BioIncubator facility, is situated on the Babraham Estate, an attractive parkland setting six miles South-East of Cambridge.

Access to the Babraham Research Campus is now from a new roundabout on the A1307. As part of our community policy, we request that Campus visitors avoid travelling through Babraham Village whenever possible.

Please note that the Google Map below will direct you to the old entrance - the new entrance is via the small roundabout on the A1307 towards Cambridge as shown here: http://maps.google.co.uk

Babraham Institute location map By car
From the M11 (Junction 10)

Take the A505 eastbound to Newmarket until it merges with the A11 northbound to Newmarket and Norwich. Stay in the left-hand lane and leave at the next exit (Four Went Ways). At the roundabout take the first exit for the A1307 to Cambridge, and continue until the next roundabout. Babraham Research Campus is to the left. Please do not follow signs for Babraham village.

From the A1(M)
Take the A505 from Baldock, crossing the M11 at junction 10, then follow the directions above.

From the A14 (west)
Join the A14 southbound at the earliest junction. Follow the A14 until you reach the M11. Leave the M11 after about 9 miles (15km), at junction 10. Follow directions from the M11 (above).

From the A14 (east)
From the A14, take the A11 towards London until you reach the FourWentWays roundabout. At the roundabout take the third exit for the A1307 to Cambridge, and continue until the next roundabout. Babraham Research Campus is to the left.

From central Cambridge
Take the A1307 signposted to Colchester, past Addenbrookes Hospital. The Institute is located a further 3 miles (5km) outside of Cambridge, approximately 6 miles south east of the city centre. The Babraham Research Campus is signposted right from the A1307, off a roundabout.

By Air
London’s Stansted Airport is approximately 35 minutes drive from central Cambridge, at Junction 8 of the M11.  London’s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports are further away, but are linked to Cambridge by good road and rail services. Mastercab provide a competitive chauffeur service from all airports (01223 566654).

By Rail
There are frequent and direct services from London King’s Cross (a 45-minute service, twice an hour) and if travelling from the City of London it is possible to take a train from Liverpool street to Whittlesford, but the train journey time is approximately 75 minutes. A taxi service is available from both stations (Mastercab 01223 566654, Panther 01223 715715) but this service cannot be guaranteed from Whittlesford. Regional Railways provide regular services from Birmingham, the Midlands, East Anglia and the North West.  Connections from Scotland and the North East are available with a change of train at Peterborough.

By Bus

The Babraham Research Campus can also be reached by public transport from Cambridge city centre. The Linton and Haverhill 13/13A service departs from the Drummer Street bus station every 30 minutes and takes 20 to 25 minutes. The service also stops close to the rail station (near the junction of Station Road and Hills Road) and at Addenbrooke's Hospital. The new entrance to the Institute is off a roundabout roughly halfway between Addenbrookes Hospital and Abington, with a bus stop adjacent to that. Please do not use the old entrance off Babraham High Street as this entrance is now closed.
